Annual Celebration and General Meeting, Weds 22 April, the Manor Barn
Andy Evason, one of our Trustees, has kindly agreed for SB to use his barn for the AGM. Andy has been ‘greening’ the Manor since he moved here a few years ago. He will show us what he has been doing and what he is planning to do in future including to improve energy efficiency. We will walk around the Manor Gardens from 7.30pm, return to the Barn for refreshments and then have our AGM when we will give our report on 2025. There will be time for discussion, and we would like to hear your views about our activities. There is an idea about reviving the Stream Project so we would like to discuss that as well as our reptile monitoring programme and anything else you’d like to raise. Do come along and meet other supporters and our trustees.
Nature reserve volunteering, 11 April 2026
We will meet at the Nature Reserve from 0930 to noon to do whatever maintenance tasks are needed, but the priority will be to plant 1,000 yellow rattle plugs in the rough grassland area. We are doing this to increase species diversity in this area. Other tasks range from weeding around the existing hedging plants and mulching them, strimming the paths, and scything and raking specific areas. It’s a good way to meet other people from the village and to enjoy this quiet and peaceful spot. There are jobs for every level of fitness and everyone is welcome to come for a taster.
Bring your own protective gloves and a drink. Email the secretary to join our volunteers mailing list if you aren’t on it already.

Repair café, Sun 14 June, 2 to 4pm, Melland Room and BlewShed
We have moved our Repair Cafes to this location. BlewShed have kindly made their facilities available which helps the repairers and the Melland Room is cosier for refreshments. Why not bring your bike for a check over? Or some clothes you’ve been putting off mending? We will try to mend your household items including electrical and gardening articles, sharpen tools, and fix bikes for free. Come and see what we do. Refreshments available. Cash donations welcome to cover costs. Thanks to all our volunteers who come to do the repairs.
Our repair cafes are less frequent than in 2025 due to the lack of a co-ordinator. Please consider helping us in this way and helping the village to live more sustainably.
Contact the secretary for a chat to find out more.
Blewbury Garden Market
The days are getting longer; the larks are starting to sing and the plum blossom to burst. Blewbury Garden Market needs you! For those who don’t know, we’re on the forecourt at Blewbury Service Station every Saturday morning in summer, 9.15 to 11 am, offering an outlet for sales of surplus garden produce, plants, baked goods etc – a small but significant contribution to village life. It was set up by SB many years ago because of wanting to encourage local sources of food, Sustainable Food, but when SB became a charity, we became part of the Village Society.
We need more volunteers to help on the stall (on a rota) and a rota of tall people for a few
minutes at the beginning and end to put up the gazebo if rain is likely. The Garden Market has served the village for many years and we hope to continue, but we need people! It’s a great way to get to know people and if you have produce or cakes you’d like to sell, we’d be pleased to do so. Please contact blewburygm@gmail.com. Further details at www.blewburygm.co.uk.

Upton’s Nature Garden
Many thanks to some of our supporters who helped establish the Upton Nature Garden with Kieran and Brian over the past few years. There are monthly meetups (working parties) this year to which you are invited.
The working parties will be held on the 3rd Sunday morning of each month from March to
November, excluding June. We do maintenance, improvement and monitoring of the nature garden and eat cake! Volunteers with botanical knowledge would be very welcome to add rigour to our surveys.
